Police are investigating the death of a seven-month-old boy who was left alone
in a car for several hours, police said Tuesday.
The baby's mother, Keshia Pouncie, had stepped away from her vehicle for a
moment and did not notice her husband, Judah Pouncie, putting her sleeping
infant into the backseat of her car on Saturday afternoon, the Gwinnett County
Police Department said in a statement.
It was about 80 degrees in Stone Mountain on Saturday afternoon.
The mother went into her sister's house while her husband went home for a nap,
the statement said.
Pouncie didn't realize the child was in her car until she spoke with her husband
on the phone several hours later, police said. She found her son, Brock,
unresponsive in the car, which was parked on Manitou Way in Stone Mountain.
Brock was pronounced dead at Eastside Medical Center.
Criminal charges have not been filed against either parent, but police said the
death is under investigation.
