Details emerge in boy's death
Associated Press
ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) A five-year-old boy who was found nearly unconscious in the
trunk of a car at Aberdeen and later died Friday has been identified as A-J
Droppers.
His mother told authorities that she noticed a door ajar on her car and then saw
that the trunk wasn't completely shut.
Wendy Droppers says she used her key to open it and found her son inside.
She says his lips were blue and he was pale.
The boy's mother called nine-one-one, and he was rushed to the hospital but
could not be revived.
An autopsy was done yesterday, but the results haven't been released yet.

PRESS RELEASE FROM ABERDEEN PD (8/20/07)
On July 20, 2007 Officers of the Aberdeen Police Department and Paramedics of
the Aberdeen Fire Department responded to an address on the southwest side of
Aberdeen in reference to a child in distress. Through an investigation by the
Aberdeen Police Department, an autopsy and a toxicology examination, it has been
determined that the victim died as a result of hyperthermia from being locked in
the trunk of a vehicle. It has been determined that the trunk accidentally shut
while the child was playing in the back of the car.
