Professional Experience:

1998 to Present:  Certified Consulting Meteorologist, Golden Gate Weather Services, Saratoga, California. Forensic meteorology providing a range of services to assist legal and insurance professionals; including data acquisition and analysis, site surveys, reports and as an experienced expert at deposition and trial. California State Bar certified MCLE activity “Weather Information for Litigation”.   Meteorological research, consulting, and forecasting for the legal and insurance professionals, engineering, utility operations and the media.  Over 375 television interviews including CNN, Good Morning America, ABC World News Tonight and Lehrer News Hour.  Clients include San Jose Mercury News, American Museum of Natural History, Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee 2012, Pacific Gas & Electric, Alan Kropp and Associates, San Francisco Estuary Institute, KTVU and KNTV Television.

 

1999 to 2000:  Director of Meteorology, Planetweather.com, Inc., San Jose, California.  An Internet weather company, providing a broad spectrum of meteorological products to online users.

 

1998 to 2004: Columnist, San Jose Mercury News, San Jose, California.  Bi-weekly column, “The Weather Corner” in Science and Technology answering weather question and writing about topical weather issues.

 

1987 to Present: Adjunct Professor, Department of Geosciences, San Francisco State University. Lecturer in Meteorology. Most recent course, Meteorology 100, Introduction to Meteorology, Fall 2008.

 

1983 to 1997: Lead Forecaster, National Weather Service Forecast Office, San Francisco Bay Area.  Operational forecaster and shift supervisor. Extensive research into California rainfall and its relationship to ENSO events and drought.  Frequent media spokesman.

 

1980 to 1983: Meteorologist-in-Charge, National Weather Service Center Weather Service Unit, FAA Air Traffic Control Center, Fremont, California. Meteorological support and training for enroute and terminal air traffic controllers.

 

1974 to 1980: Meteorologist, National Weather Service Forecast Office, San Francisco Bay Area.  Public service and aviation forecaster providing weather and climatological information to the general public and specialized users.
